Not only is the Evo dead, but they’re slapping the ‘Evo’ name on to a hybrid CUV. Yesterday we heard of a Lotus CUV and ugh, I just need to lie down for a while.

Oh dear... I was on board with a decent hybrid system in a future Evo, but a crossover?

This makes me feel a special kind of “disappointed”.

Oh come on Lotus. Now that Aston Martin found a tenner under the sofa and are finally moving forward you guys are the only ones being left behind on these shores. A company of such racing pedigree with quality engineers and an iconic image shouldn’t need to build SUVs and Crossovers, oh wait they aren’t. Come on Lotus, if a 4 year old McLaren can survive on sports cars alone why can’t you, who has been in the game for over 50 bloody years?
As for Mitsubishi. What a shame. Evo, GSX, GTO and the 3000GT. What happened man, what happened?

Mitsubishi has used the Evo nameplate on an SUV before. If Mitsubishi finds a way to make the new crossover awesome, even in a unique way, I won't complain.

All my friends are getting married and getting fat,
and I’m just over here jumping around.

I’d rather live in a universe with Lotus sports cars and an SUV/Sedan/Whatever for sale, than one where Lotus has gone out of business.

Yeah, if it ends up being less like a RAV4 Hybrid or NX300h and more like a Macan, SQ5 or RS Q3, I’ll be more than content with a hybrid EVO crossover.
